Letting Go of Perfection: A Happy and Healthy New Year!

Hey Guys,

It’s been a while. I took quite a bit longer off from blogging than I planned. But it’s the new year, and I’m back and am going to be going to be blogging and video blogging at least a couple times a week! So, be sure you are subscribed to my blog, youtube channel and  Facebook Page so you don’t miss anything! :)

Today I made a video on the topic of “perfection.” The obsession with being perfect. Since it is a new year, and everyone’s making resolutions and goals I wanted to have some input on this topic. Hope you enjoy the video! I can’t wait to share more with you guys this year.

Ecclesiastes 7:20- There is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins

1 Samuel 16:7 – …….the lord sees not as man sees; man looks at the outward appearance but the lord looks at the heart.

Lipgloss Sending a Positive Message for Young Girls and Women!

“What’s Your Virtue?, a company founded by three friends who believe beauty starts from within. We want to remind all women of the simple and virtuous things in life. What better place to start than on your lips?” -whatsyourvirtue.com

Hey Guys,

A few weeks ago I discovered a up and coming lipgloss brand called LipBliss by the company What’s your Virtue?. I knew immediately I believed in what this company was doing and the message behind it. The purpose is to use positive virtues such as Devotion, Wisdom, Kindness, Generosity, as color names for their lipglosses.

It all started when a woman shopping with her teenage and pre-teen daughter discovered that many cosmetics company and their product names were innapropriate and sending negative messages to girls everywhere. She wanted to create a lipgloss that women could buy and feel good about gifting or buying for themselves.

I LOVE this concept, and would love to see this in more of our cosmetics out there today.

These would be great for woman of any age, the colors are pretty sheer or lightly tinted. They have a minty smell, and a very creamy , long lasting glossy texture.

They contain: castor, cranberry, and safflower seed oils, nourishing peppermint oil,  green tea extracts, and moisturizing vitamin E. LipBliss is gluten free, not tested on animals, and contains no parabens.

Go check out the website if you want to find out more information about LipBliss! :)

Jennifer Strickland’s Testimony- Finding Jesus in the World of Modeling, Finding True Beauty

Hi Guys,

My mom posted this testimony on my Facebook wall. I think she knew I would find some similarities to her story. Now, for the past hour…I have been listening to the words and stories of Jennifer Strickland and I am so touched by them.

I relate to Jennifer..and I feel like she is the first person I have ever come across that is doing exactly what I want to be doing. Jennifer Strickland was a runway and fashion model for 15 years, always chasing perfection and the ideal image of what the world thought was beautiful. She finally heard the gospel message when she was 23 and realized that JESUS is Perfect. We are not perfect, and we are never going to be perfect. We don’t need to sell ourselves as beautiful because GOD knows we are beautiful , he made us beautiful. I LOVE her testimony and what she is now doing.

I wanted to share this video with you, please watch it..and I will post more to follow up in the future!

Check out Jennifer’s website:

Tribute to Kandee Johnson & Appreciating the People in Your Life

Hey Guys,

Hope you all had a great weekend and Fathers Day…I hope you spent time with your dads (if you were able). I wanted to write about something today that has been on my heart and that is, appreciating the people in your life.  You may not believe what I believe but I think God places people in your life to help you get through your time on earth…we are given families, friends, and are meant to have loving people around us.

One of the “beauty guru’s” that I have looked up to since I started blogging was Kandee Johnson. If you have never seen her amazing Youtube videos or seen her Blog, you should DEFINITELY check it out. She is not only an amazing make up artist, and all around beauty expert, but…she’s seems like an amazing woman. She has 4 children, and is always so bubbly and happy and spreading lots of love and inspirational words in everything she does.

She lost her dad a few days ago. Just a few days before Fathers day. And, words can’t even describe how that made me feel. I have never met Kandee , nor seen her in person…but through her videos and posts she puts out, I FEEL like I know her…and have always admired her. So, this Fathers day, I really wanted to just spend TIME with my dad because I feel like time is really the most precious gift we can give someone.

I can’t imagine going through what she must be feeling right now. And, her recent post on her blog was about her relationship with her dad and how she doesn’t know when or how she will continue to write about beauty. I’d love for you all to see her blog and her post she wrote about her dad:

Just appreciate the people in your life, spend TIME with them…and love them. <3

Where do you find your Inspiration to Create? MissGlamorazzi Music Video

Hey Guys,

This is kind of a different post than your used to seeing, but I figured I can do a few of these from time to time. What I will be doing is showing you a look I created with my hair/makeup/accessories etc that I got from some outside source of inspiration.

Yesterdays inspiration was Ingrid (MissGlamorazzi) on YouTube. If you guys are not clued into the You Tube world, and you don’t know who she is, she’s a really adorable, amazingly talented YouTube Vlogger. I recently got addicted to her videos when she did something called “Vlogmas” where she vlogged every day of December until Christmas.

It’s almost like watching a really great reality show and her main guy friend “Luke” who also has a YouTube Channel was in almost every one of her videos. Turns out, they are now dating and they also do music videos together. It’s so cute and definitely makes good entertainment!

Their latest music video was a re-make of “Back to December” by Taylor Swift. I really liked Ingrid’s, hair and makeup in this video and it inspired my “look of the day”. Here is the video. Watch it if you have not seen it! And, I highly recommend both Ingrid and Luke’s Vlog Channels on You tube. They are vlogging every day of 2012, and they are really fun to watch!!

Here’s the video:

And here are some photos of the look I created based off Ingrid’s style in the video:

Have a great night everyone!!

Hey Guys!

How do you get inspiration in beauty, style, fashion etc? Do you read magazines like Allure, Vogue and Elle? Do you watch the Kardashians, or maybe the housewives of (whatever county)? Reguardless of where you get ideas, it’s really fun to follow or read things that inspire you.

For the past year or so I’ve discovered the YouTube beauty community. There are many people on YouTube who have made their own channel and post videos. I just wanted to share a few of my favorite beauty gurus so that maybe I’ll get YOU addicted to their videos too!! Dove Diary: Beauty Advice and My Daily Beauty Regime

Hi Beautiful Viewers,

I am very honored to have been chosen to be featured on http://www.2threads.com; an Australian Fashion and Beauty blog. They are doing a Dove Diaries special and have asked me to share a couple of things with all of you!

First, they wanted to know what my advice would be on “staying beautiful.”

  • My number one piece of advice on looking and feeling beautiful would be to embrace who you are and how you were created. We are all so unique and it would be really boring to all look the same. There are many images out there portraying a beauty “ideal” and it is not healthy to get hung-up on. You  need to enjoy your life and embrace the beauty you are.
  • Another piece of  advice for looking and feeling beautiful is to learn what works for you and your body, hair, skin, makeup etc. Just because one beauty magazine tells you a certain color you should wear, doesn’t mean you should. Find what works for you and work with it. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new styles and products.
  • Lastly, take care of your hair, skin and nails. Healthy shiny hair, and beautiful glowing skin are really two things people notice.Make sure you drink plenty of water and keep your skin moisturized!

As far as my daily beauty regime goes…it tends to vary day to day and has gotten simpler and simpler the older I get. I think keeping it simple is key. I try to take really good care of my teeth, hair, skin and nails.

A couple of the things I do on a regular basis are :

  • Exfoliate my skin
  • Moisturize my skin and apply an eye cream
  • Use deep conditioner on my hair
  • Brush and Floss my teeth
  • Paint  nails
  • Apply makeup
  • Drink lots of water and Green tea
  • Apply FAVORITE PERFUME OF ALL TIME: Mine is, AMOR AMOR by CACHAREL
Those are my basics. Keep it simple, wear and use what makes you feel good, not what others are telling you to. Be honest with yourself and with others, treat others better than you would yourself with kindness, respect and love.
LOVE- Lauren

Hey Ladies and Gents,

I heard this song tonight on Pandora and I loved the lyrics. My first thought, “share it on my blog”.

So, here it is. It’s a song called “Lovely” by Sara Haze. The chorus lyric says, “I am lovely just the way that I am…I feel lovely just the way that I am.” I found it very encouraging…hope you will too.

Former Makeup Artist, Pia Toscano kicked off American Idol

American Idol

Image via Wikipedia

Hey Guys!!

Ok, so I have a confession to make. I love American Idol this year… I think the talent is great and the judges are fantastic and entertaining. On tonight’s elimination, Pia Toscano was the one to leave which left me more than disappointed.

I don’t usually get that “into”  tv shows. I prefer movies. But, there’s something about American Idol and watching people perform that is just so entertaining (and I think some of the rest of you can agree). I am not usually one to voice my opinions on things, or get bothered by something on a “show”. But, with Pia leaving it has left me feeling really disappointed. I have been watching the show many times to see what fantastic ballad she can tackle or how much she is going to sound like some of my favorites, Whitney, Celine and Mariah.

My husband and I always get into little arguments about how he enjoys “male singers” more and I enjoy “female singers”. It’s about relateability. What can I blast in my car and sing along to. I’d rather sing to a female voice personally. So, where am I going with all of this? My favorite singers are the female stars who can REALLY belt out those notes. I have never on American Idol seen someone who I thought could sing like Mariah Carey, or sound like Celine Dion. I think Pia is that talented.

She may need some guidance in her career and with her talent, (like all of us do) but I think she has great things ahead of her. I write about this mostly for selfish reasons…to let out my disappointment. But also because this is a “beauty” blog… Pia has a beautiful voice and is a beautiful girl. I wanted to share my opinions.

Enjoy three incredible songs…(and tell me she is not fantastic!) I’d give anything to have a voice like this…

Love & God Bless, Lauren
