It’s been a while. I took quite a bit longer off from blogging than I planned. But it’s the new year, and I’m back and am going to be going to be blogging and video blogging at least a couple times a week! December is going to be an awesome month! It’s my favorite month of the year and I will be blogging everyday up until Christmas this month. Yes, that is a big commitment, but I’m going to do it for you guys.

Never in my life have I heard a story so similar to mine. One that touched me so deeply it made me bawl my eyes out. I recently finished reading Jennifer Strickland’s book ” Girl Perfect”. It is a true story about her life as a model and how she found God, accepted Christ as her Savior and changed her path. While some thought she was living a luxurious, dreamy life of a model, she was dying. She was dying because of her lifestyle and the things she was choosing to fill her time with. After finding out the true perfect one, God, and trying to stop being perfect herself and live up to everyone else’s desires and wants she FREED herself and found happiness and fufillment. All she wanted was to be loved.

I think so many of us can relate to feeling like we are not good enough, we are not perfect enough, we’re always chasing the ideal IMAGE of beauty, but instead we should be looking to the one who is truly beautiful and who created us, GOD. He will fufill all of our needs, he will make our paths perfect, he will guide, protect, love, and care for us. We just need to CHOOSE HIM!

This book is a MUST READ. It is truly one of the best books I’ve read and so similar to all of the feelings and experiences I went through while I was modeling in New York. Her story has differences than mine, but her reasoning was the exact reasoning I left the industry as well. It was a destructive life; a life I would have never found happiness. I was sick of living up to other peoples expectations, being picked apart for each aspect of the way you look ALL the time, only being known for my pictures, the way I look. I was struggling from an eating disorder and knew I was dying in the process, knowing that if I stayed in New York and kept up all of the same habits, I would die. I was not living. I was trying to be perfect.

I had to completely turn away from it all and start new. I wanted something normal. I wanted to feel FREE TO BE ME and not constantly called on castings to be rejected and accepted, up and down; I was on a roller coaster.

Please read this book…it will really make you think, hopefully inspire you and also share with you SO MANY TRUTHS. You can find it on Amazon here:

Hope you all had a great week. I recently got a new video camera and my first video I have made with it is a “what’s in my shower?” video. I wanted to do something that was easy to film so I could get the hang of the camera and learn how to use it.

I have seen videos on Youtube showing what people keep in their showers, and I always think it is really interesting to see what products people are currently using. 

As I state in the video, most of these items in my shower change out frequently as I am using and trying different things, but it’s still fun to see. Enjoy the video, and if you have video requests of what you would like to see leave them in a comment. Thanks!

Sometimes, there is too much big stuff that get’s in the way of recognizing the little things we love. When you are bogged down with problems that seem too large to handle, I urge you to look at the little things in your life that are so good. The simple pleasures. One of my favorite simple pleasures is iced tea. ESPECIALLY in the summer.

I make big pitchers of iced tea at home but I also LOVE the green iced tea at Starbucks. I bought the same kind and make it myself, but it never tastes the same as getting it there. It’s little things like iced tea, painting my nails, candles, a clean house, going outside and playing fetch with the dog, flowers for the house…that make getting through a rough time much better!

Today, I wanted to wrap up my weekend by showing you some fun photos I took with all of my activities this weekend. I had a wedding on Friday that was fun to get dressed up for, a baby shower Saturday, as well as my husbands birthday celebration. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Those are my shoes, purse, nails and make up from the night of the wedding.

Dr.Seuss was the theme of the baby shower…and there were adorable sugar cookies. Next to that photo is my husband with some birthday dessert. 

And, last but not least…I saw these hilarious car lashes on the car parked in front of us at the restaurant. Isn’t that just adorable?!!!

haha… it seems perfect for someone who does “eyelash extensions”!!! But, I don’t know if I could be that daring.

I recently went to “The Container Store” and absolutely fell in love with it. I could have been in there for hours looking around at all the cool and unique items and ideas for storing things. 

This morning I made a video showing how I organize my day-to-day make up vanity (which happen’s to be my bathroom sink) It is nothing special, but it has helped me a ton to put things in certain organizers so I know exactly where they are.  (On a side note- I have a lot of products, this is from years of collecting make up and beauty products, working in the industry and reviewing things. )
