How do you Treat your Skin? Shave, Sugar, Slather with Perfectly Posh

A few days ago I said that you should take ONE day a week and try to make an effort to treat yourself to a face mask. That’s great for your face, but what about your body? How do you TREAT the rest of your skin?? I wanted to also challenge you to take one day a week to follow this three steps for smoother , healthier, softer skin!

Here’s how you can treat your skin at least ONE day a week:)

  1. Shave. This one we all do for obvious reason… we shave so we are not hairy and have smoother more touchable skin. But- shaving also helps exfoliate your skin, which is good for getting off dead skin cells and exposing younger , healthier skin.
  2. Sugar. Use a sugar body scrub to exfoliate all over your body. Do this after shaving to really help soften and further exfoliate. I have been loving Perfectly Posh‘“SUGAR FIX”. It is an all over sugar body scrub that contains honey and almond and leaves my skin feeling amazing!
  3. Slather. Here’s the fun part…apply a body butter or lotion all over your body, (preferably something that is skin nourishing and smells good). Then, put on big fuzzy robe and wait a while…when you take off your robe to get dressed, your skin will feel soft and incredible. Also from the Perfectly Posh line, I have been using “paper moon slather body butter”. It smells absolutely incredible, light and sweet and I love the consistency. It’s not sticky, just rich and hydrating.

Hope you all are up for the challenge of softer skin…I have been doing these three things as often as possible and it’s been making my dry skin feel a lot more hydrated and smooth.

The products I listed in this post were samples given to me to try by  Laura of Perfectly Posh. Definitely go check out the website  and facebook page. She was very kind and helpful in telling me about these products. I have been using them almost on a daily basis. I was really impressed by both this sugar scrub and body butter. I loved the quality and the price. The other great thing about all of these products is that they are:

• Paraben-free and paraffin-free
• SLS-free
• Gluten-free
• Soy-free
• Use essential oils and fine pthalate-free fragrances
• Natural: Full of butters, oils, and other nourishing ingredients
• Preserved with gentle, effective vitamin E

You can also request a free sample by “liking” Laura’s Perfectly Posh Facebook page.

Hope you’re all having a fabulous week. Talk to you soon.

Treat Your Skin – Make Face Masks a Weekly Routine

Once a week I treat my skin to a cocktail… a FACE MASK cocktail. I have found that treating my skin to face masks at least once a week helps it stay clearer, feel more refreshed, and brightens my skin tone. If I could do this 2-3 times a week I would because I think it really helps purge the skin of impurities and is also good for relaxation. But- realistically, I get to this special treat once a week.

I would encourage you to find a few good face masks, and try to carve out a half hour to an hour, once a week where you can pamper your skin.

A few of my favorite masks are:

  • Masqueology face masks. These masks are easy to apply that have cut-outs of eyes, nose and mouth and contain different properties such as brightening, anti-blemish, lifting and firming, pore minimizing and more. You leave them on your skin for about 20 minutes. After, you can simply peel it off and go; there is no need to wash your face.
  • Pangea Organics Japanese Matcha Tea With Acai & Goji  Berry Mask. This mask contains Organic matcha tea powder, Organic goji berry extract,  and Wildcrafted seaweed. This mask is gritty and has lots of clumps in it. After you leave it on your skin for 10-15 minutes , you massage it into your skin to help exfoliate and get rid of dead skin cells.
  • Feed My Skin’s Pumpkin Peel Masque.  The glycolic acid in this  transforms dull, lifeless complexions into more youthful skin. pumpkin also contains more than 100 beneficial nutrients. The packaging is labeled so that it appears like nutrition facts. The masque smells amazing, just like fresh pumpkins and spices and it feels tingly and soothing on the skin. I can’t wait to try another one of Feed My Skin’s amazing masques!!
Have you tried any face masks or scrubs that you absolutely love? How do you treat your skin?

Guest Post: How to get a Red Carpet Glow!

How to Get a Red Carpet Glow

By Lee Ann Buttery

Sure, celebrities have an extremely flexible budget where they can splurge on the best foods, most luxurious cosmetic and skin care products on the market, and indulge at the most lavish spas on the globe.  So perhaps we can attribute their seemingly flawless faces to their routine facials and high-end cosmetic collection, but as for the rest of us commoners, we too can emulate a celebrity-esque glow even on a humble budget.  Continue reading to get tips on how to achieve a red-carpet worthy glow that would even make the Kardashians green with envy.

  1. Diet- the overall appearance of your skin is largely contingent on what you put in your body.  Your face (and body) is bound to reflect health and vitality if you consume a balanced diet rich in good fats, omega-3’s (i.e. salmon, flaxseed), antioxidants, whole grains, protein, fruits and vegetables- especially dark, leafy veggies.  Moreover, if you avoid junk food, you’re doing your skin a big favor.
  1. Sleep- they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing.  Aim to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night and do your best to hit the sack before 11 p.m.  In sleep mode, your skin renews itself during the hours of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. a.k.a. “beauty sleep.”  So you might have to tape David Letterman episodes henceforth.
  1. Drink Up- water and green tea that is.  You’ve heard it before- aim to gulp down at least 8 glasses of water a day.  This will help flush toxins and impurities out of your body.  Sipping 3-4 cups of green tea a day is also very beneficial for your skin as it’s loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.  Thus, will help to impart a healthy glow.  Drinking too many cocktails can sabotage your skin and of course, your health, so try to limit alcohol consumption to no more than once a week.
  1. Exercise- as basic and simple as it may sound, breaking up a sweat will help release toxins out of your body and thus help your skin radiate.  So get movin’!
  1. Proper Skin Care Regimen- a good skin care regimen that is customized for your personal skin type is essential in achieving a red carpet glow.  You might be thinking duh right now, but too many people use the wrong products for their skin type. If you’re unsure what your skin type is, then check out our website for an online analysis Mario Badescu Skin Care.
  1.   Do a DIY Spa Treatment- If you can’t afford a facial at the spa, then feed your skin with a mask that can be concocted with glow-enhancing ingredients straight from your kitchen.  For instance, apply honey on your face and leave it on for 30 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water.  Great for any skin type, honey will cleanse your pores and help tighten your pores.  If you have dry skin, apply mayonnaise on your face (avoiding the eye area) and leave on for 20-30 minutes.  This will help tighten your pores and moisturize your skin.
  1. Makeup- with makeup application, the key is ‘less is more’ for a dewy glow.  On a clean face, apply a lightweight moisturizer followed by a primer before you apply makeup.  Choose foundation that is suitable for your skin type.  If you have normal to oily skin, opt for a liquid or powder foundation.  If you have normal to dry skin, choose a liquid or cream foundation.  You can even mix in a drop or two of moisturizer in your foundation for a dewy look- but this tip is best for dry skin types.  To avoid looking cakey, go very light on the loose powder to set your foundation.  For a gorgeous glow, blush is a must.  If you have normal to oily skin, use a powder blush, and if you have normal to dry skin, opt for a cream blush and apply on the apples of your cheeks and blend toward the temples.

The Mulit-Use Beauty Product You Probably Have at Home- Vaseline

Hey Guys,

Before you start thinking… Vaseline? Who cares about Vaseline.. it’s nothing special. I just wanted to point out some things to you today about this very basic beauty product.

I came across an adorable new Vaseline product called lip therapy. It is so tiny and

cute and is the perfect size for your purse. :) I usually like anything if it is in an itty bitty size container.

It’s a great lip product, to help protect and keep moisture in. I also use this at night before I go to bed to keep my lips extra hydrated.

I also was reading recently that Marilyn Monroe used to use Vaseline on her face to keep in young and soft. Supposedly, Vaseline is too thick and will not sink in and clog pores. Instead, it sits on top of the skin creating a barrier so that pollutants from the air can not get in,  and moisture from the skin can not escape. I have never tried this…but I’m curious.. have you tried using it this way???

Besides for dry lips, cracked elbows and knees, dry skin, and softening cuticles, Vaseline also has many other uses. I found a very interesting article if you are interested in more ideas for vaseline! http://www.mythirtyspot.com/2011/09/20-uses-for-vaseline-girls-best-friend.html

photo from  mythirtyspot.com

The most interesting of all of them, was using vaseline on your eyelashes at night to help them thicken and grow. HAVE YOU TRIED THIS?? Does it work?? I’m curious to find out!!

Face Treatment Masks- A few of my favorites :)

Hey!

** If you are receiving this through an e-mail because you have subscribed to this blog: please go over to my NEW SITE for my blog and subscribe to that one, because I don’t know how long I will continue posting the same information on both blog sites:) Thanks! www.lovelobeauty.com ***

I’ve recently been into treating my skin with face masks. I started one night when I had some spare time by using the Pangea Organics Facial Mask and after my skin felt so amazing that I was hooked. For the past few weeks now, I have been using face masks once or twice a week.

Here are my favorite face treatment masks.

Pangea Organics Facial Mask Japanese Matcha Tea with Acai & Goji Berry. This mask is for ALL skin types. I’m not going to lie, this looks pretty gross going on, it’s muddy and grainy. But, on the skin it feels so amazing. And,when you take it off your skin is exfoliated, and feels SUPER clean!! I absolutely love this mask. It is one of my all time favorites I have ever used. http://www.pangeaorganics.com/

Freeman Facial Clay Mask in Chocolate & Strawberry. I was so curious about this mask. I was thinking, how could something that smells like chocolate strawberry be good for my skin? But- I was convinced the first time I used this that it works wonders. This feels like it really balances my skin. It feels like it cleans and balances your pores so that they are not oily but your skin feels hydrated. My skin is usually very sensitive to overly drying clay masks, and this one did not irritate my skin at all. http://www.freemanbeauty.com/

Freeman Beauty, Chocolate Strawberry Mask

Face Q Grape Seed and Green Tea Mask. The first thing about this mask is the adorable packaging. There is a whole line of these Face Q masks and all of them are so cute!! This is one of those peel off masks that has cut-outs for your eyes, nose and mouth. You just put it on and peel it off. It is formulated with all natural botanical extracts and grape seed which has synergistic effect with collagen and elastin, making skin a shiny and flexible and prevents wrinkles. http://www.imomoko.com/product_detail.php?ID=3599

Let’s Talk Skincare- Skin Oil and Gel

Hey Guys!

I want to talk a little about skin care this morning. There are 3 products that I have used for the last month or two that I have really noticed results with and have loved having in my skin care routine.

I love Olivella’s Moisturizing oil. I’ve used this every night before I go to sleep and have noticed a huge difference in my skin. It has felt more youthful, hydrated and soft.

I was always afraid of putting oil onto my skin thinking it would break me out more, but I actually think it does the opposite, it seems to help clear up my skin better.

Olivella’s Moisturizing oil replenishes   and revitalizes your skin. You can use it on your face or any other area that is feeling dry. 100% virgin Olive Oil is rich in Vitamin A, E, beta carotene and squalene. All are very beneficial for your skins youthfulness and hydration. For more information you can take a look at this product at: http://olivellausa.com/OlivellaMoisturizer.html

I also have been loving Boscia’s Clear Complexion Treatment With Botanical Blast. This is a highly effective complexion clearing gel. It has a high concentration of Willow Bark Extract to control oil, clear breakouts, and keep up a clear complexion.

What do I love about this? It is clear, lightweight, and dries fast. So, I put it on the areas of my face that tend to get oily , in the morning, before I apply make up.

You can find this product at Sephora or at http://www.bosciaskincare.com/newsite/index.php

The newest of these three products is the Dr.Dennis Gross Skincare Active Vitamin D Serum Oil. This is a serum oil created to provide sufficient levels of Vitamin D for the skin. It’s enhanced anti-aging properties include improved skin elasticity and bounce, greater hydration, pore reduction and improved radiance.

A small dose of Vitamin D for your skin is really important, however, with all the sunscreen products and scare about exposing your skin to the sun , this is the perfect way to get your vitamin D without exposing your skin to too much of the harmful UV rays.

I feel like this has brightened my skin and making it appear more radiant! I apply this once every morning. It is important with this product and with any of these products mentioned that you apply them correctly. This product only calls for 2 drops tapped into the skin. Active Vitamin D Serum-Oil

For Sensitive Skin…Say YES TO cucumbers!

Hey Guys,

For me the winter months make my skin really dry, and more problematic. I have pretty sensitive skin so finding skin care products that don’t make my skin problems worse, or just are gentle enough to use can be a little difficult. But, there’s one line of products that has NEVER let me down.

It is the YES TO CUCUMBERS line…

One of my favorite products from this line are the facial towelettes. They get all of your makeup off without stripping your skin leaving it dry and red. These wipes always leave my skin feeling soft, looking clean, and smelling that delicious scent of cucumbers! haha. This whole line of products has a really nice clean cucumber smell which is really amazing.

These wipes also won the Best of Beauty award from Allure Magazine for 2011. They are absolutely fantastic and you should try them if you have not. They come in a pack of 30 for around $6.  The other great thing about these wipes is the packaging. There is a plastic seal top which keeps them staying fresher for longer!

The Benefits of this product line are:

Calms Irritated Skin

Helps Rebuild Damaged Cells

Keeps Skin Hydrated

Free Of Parabins

I am using the daily calming moisturizer and the soothing eye gel and I love them. They calm my skin down and make it feel awesome. If you have not checked out this line, I would HIGHLY recommend it! ;) (And, this blog is not sponsored, I’m just obsessed with these products.) http://yestocarrots.com/

Treatments for Stressed Acne Prone Skin: Tanda ZAP

Hey Guys!

I feel like for many people, the end of December and January are stressful months. First there are the holidays, and then I think we can tend to get a little depressed because Christmas is over, money’s tight and our pants are even tighter. haha. But seriously, it can sometimes be a hard time of year… and your skin can often start breaking out and react to all of the stress and change in weather.

If I knew the magic potion you could take to clear your skin up, I would tell you. But, I do know a few tricks and a few products that can really help aid in the process of getting clearer, brighter skin!

1. Drink lots of water. Did you know if you are dehydrated your skin produces more oil?! Water helps flush toxins out of your body, therefore keeping your skin clearer.

2. Green tea . Green tea is just SUPER. Start drinking more, I suggest iced because you can usually get down more of it. You will see a major change in your skin.

3. Anything green really. Green vegetables help get clearer skin.

4. BLUE LIGHT THERAPY. Ok, so this one is not one I have talked a TON about. But, it’s pretty amazing and does work. Plus,  it’s safe to use, gentle, and doesn’t dry out your skin like a lot of acne products do. Let me tell you about the TANDA ZAP.

I have been testing the TANDA ZAP acne spot treatment for a while now, and I am a firm believer that this is one of the best treatment for acne. There is no pain, no dryness and no irritation with this. It’s easy to use and you can literally feel it working the first day you start using it. Here’s a little SKIN HISTORY for you….

This image and information has been provided by Tanda. Tanda provided me with this for possible review, but I am only telling you all about it because it works and I love it.

I tried another blue light product last year. It was one for the entire face, and it made my skin super clear, soft, and more radiant with continued use.

The hardest thing about this is that it’s time-consuming. The Tanda Zap is supposed to be used for 2 minutes on each spot multiple times a day. I usually do about 2 minutes on each area I want to treat, then go back over for a total of 4 minutes. I do that process 2 times a day, when I need to clear up my skin.  You can find out more about the Tanda at : http://www.tanda.com/zap.html . It retails for $49.00.

:) Have any of you used blue light therapy before, or any of the Tanda Products? I would love to know!! Leave a comment below if you have.

P.S Don’t forget to check out my other blog: Lovelo Beauty (my lash blog) http://lovelobeauty.wordpress.com/ I posted today with Tia’s before and after lash extensions photo. Nighty Nite Tonic Hydrating Mask by One Bath and Body

Hi Guys,

My skin has been SUPER dry lately!! The cold weather takes havoc on your skin, often leaving it dry, flakey and dull.

One thing that helps is, every single night I apply a really rich moisturizer and eye cream on. I do this all year-long , but in the winter it seems especially important because my skin is always more dry. I live in one of the coldest states in the U.S…so, making sure I take care of my skin is crucial.

Another thing that you can do in the winter to help hydrate your skin is use a hydrating mask. I have been using the masks from “ONE bath and body.” These masks are called the Nighty Night Tonic Hydrating Mask. These are A-MAZINGLY rich with hydration!

Just a tip though, these kinda look scary on, so make sure you don’t have to answer the door or talk to someone online, or even have a dog that might be afraid of freaky looking things. haha.

All you do is put it on and let it sit for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Your skin will feel SO GREAT after!! The only place I know for sure you can find these is TARGET ONLINE. They are $1.99 each. :)

Enjoy and hope you are staying moisturized and hydrated this winter!! Talk to you all soon.
