Tips for Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes!

Hey Guys!

It’s Tuesday, hope you’re all having a good week. The weather has been beautiful here!! 70′s and sunny.

I received a question asking me “how I clean my makeup brushes?” Or, “do I have any tips to share for cleaning makeup brushes.” So, I wanted to explain my method. Many of you may already know how to clean your brushes, but for those of you who don’t, here are my tips and ideas.

First, the things you need are:

  • your dirty brushes
  • sink (warm running water)
  • paper towels
  • baby shampoo or general gentle shampoo (dish soap if you don’t have a gentle shampoo)
  • makeup brush spot cleaner ( MAC has a good one, Parian Spirit is my favorite, and I currently found one my Sonia Kashuk at Target)  This is only for spot cleaning.

To “lightly clean” and not “deep clean” your brushes in between uses, all you need is some makeup brush cleaner as I mentioned above and paper towels. Spray or pour a bit of the solution on a paper towel and the run your makeup brush back and forth over the cleaner until you see most of the product come out of the brush , onto the paper towel. Lay flat to dry on paper towel and you can pick up and use about 10 minutes later.

To deep clean I first run all my brushes through warm running water (avoiding getting the handle wet.) If you continuously get the entire brush wet, it can loosen the glue that bonds the brush together. You want tojust focus on running the bristles of the brush under water and not the entire brush).

Then I pour a little bit of the either baby shampoo or dish soap (If I use dish soap I use a pea size amount) into my hand and take one or two brushes and swirl them around in the soap in my hand.

Next, I rinse the brush under warm water until I see just about all of the bubbles, soap and product come out of the bristles into the sink, you can gently squeeze the bristles to get all of the soap out.

Finally, I lay the brush flat on a paper towel and on the counter to dry. I usually let my brushes dry overnight.

Repeat with all your brushes! :)

Check out Parian Spirit for their brush cleaner! It smells like citrus and is absolutely amazing.

The Soap and Paper Factory Hand Cream: Elegant Packaging Makes a Difference

Have you ever seen something and just wanted to buy it because of how pretty, or clever the packaging was?! Do you think packaging makes a difference on the sales of a product? …I am definitely someone who loves fancy , beautiful packaging.

Take for example, when you are buying a gift for someone. For me, if I had the choice between a hand cream that was in a plain white tube that cost the same as a hand cream in beautiful packaging, I would choose the fancy packaging to give as a gift. Why? Because it looks nicer. I also like to set things out in my home for when guests come over…

I recently discovered this company , “The Soap and Paper Factory” which makes natural handmade products. Their packaging is Beautiful! Just take a look for yourself…

This is definitely packaging done right! I love the prints and fancy colors. The Soap and Paper Factory makes all sort of natural handmade beauty and home products like candles, perfume, room diffusers, shea butter soaps and more.

If you did not see my post yesterday of some personal pictures from my work, click here to take a peek:)

Carried Away-Bath and Body Works Spring 2011

Love for Arts

Image via Wikipedia

Hey Everyone!

A scripture that feels good today: Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12: 10

Bath and Body works has a couple new scents for spring 2011. One of them is called “Carried Away”. I really love this scent. It’s sweet but floraly. Very feminine. The website describes it as ” a blend of lush raspberries, white jasmine and whipped vanilla, inspired by the way love sweeps you off your feet.”

The bottles are very pretty and I love how this packaging is SO VERY SPRING!

If I was to recommend two products from the scented collections I would recommend the perfumes because they’re inexpensive and come in such a variety of delicious scents. The other product I would recommend are the body splash’s because you can use them in your gym bag, or take them to work to give yourself a spritz of something that smells good but is not too overpowering. :)

Goat Milk What?…

Hey Everyone!

I just love to find new products that I think are fantastic! It is so fun to discover beauty products that are better than  other’s you’ve tried before. The reason I say this is because I have recently been introduced to GOAT MILK STUFF. This is a company run by the Jonas Family of 10. Jim and Pj and their 8 kids. I love their concept and the fact that this is a family run business that has a really excellent product.  SOAP.

Truth is… I am not a huge bar soap lover. I’ve always preferred soap in a bottle, such as a shower gel or body wash. BUT- these soaps have changed my mind about bar soap. Here’s why:

  1. The colors are all natural. They do not use dyes or synthetic colors.
  2. They only use high quality essential or fragrance oils to scent the goat milk soap.
  3. They use only natural fats and oils.
  4. They use raw goat milk from their own farm.
  5. Each bar is unique, no 2 are exactly alike.
  6. They come in a variety of colors, scents and textures.
  7. They look good enough to eat! (No, I wouldn’t eat them, but you get the picture…they look good! )
  8. Each soap is packaged in really cute little sack.
  9. You get 3 free samples with every order!

Goat Milk Stuff also has liquid soaps, lip balms and some other products. If I try any of those and find that I love them as much as these bar soaps… I will let you guys know!

I tried fragrances, Pink Sugar, Black Raspberry, Oatmeal Milk and Honey, Luv Spell and Rosemary Spearmint. I love them all. But, in particular my favorites were Pink Sugar because it smells so sweet and delicious and Rosemary Spearmint because I love rosemary and I love mint, together they make a great combination. Especially for a hand soap in the kitchen!

**You can buy bar soap in the half , whole size or, travel size.

BEST of Beauty November: Le Angelique, WonderBar & Spongeables

Hey Everyone!

I’m back to share more November favorites with you all. I had such a rough morning. We just moved into a new place and one of our cars was broken into, broke the window and front console. To top it off it is like 10 degrees Fahrenheit and scheduled to snow. So to put it mildly, this post may be a bit scatterbrained. I’m sorry.

1st things 1st. My winner of GoNails has not contacted me yet, and I really want you to get your product!!

Donna was my winner who commented on my GO nails post. I do not have your e-mail Donna, so please contact me with your info. If I don’t hear from you by tomorrow at 1 pm central time, I’m going to have to pick another winner at random. So, please e-mail me! leolucky777@yahoo.com :)

Three things I have been loving this month. The first is:

Le Angelique hair extensions. These are 100 % natural human hair, with easy to clip in strips that can enhance the length, thickness or style of your current hairstyle. Each set contains h 7 Clip ins which are 18 Inch Long. You can get them in a variety of colors and you treat them like you would your OWN hair. Wash, dry, brush and curl.

My hair has always been naturally very straight and thin. When I put these in, I love the volume I can create and the thicker texture I get. I will be doing a full review on these extensions and talking more in detail. But, they are SO fun, and such a great product. They feel JUST like my hair and I had to tell you guys about them. Le Angelique sells other beauty tools and products. Go check out their website: http://www.leangelique.com

Next thing I’ve been loving is the WONDERBAR. I’m kinda impressed by this thing. It’s been making my skin feel so good. It’s an ALL IN ONE skin care bar that helps heal and detoxify skin. It’s a PH balanced beauty treatment disguised as a bar of soap. This helps oily skin be less oily and dry skin be less dry. So really, it is for someone of any skin type. It is NOT SOAP, it’s made of  Chlorey’nahre and Heilmoor clay of Austria. ???

I will show you a picture of this and you will NOT believe this little bar does all that! The website is super adorable too and has all the information you’ll need. Check that out here: http://www.wonderbarusa.com/

This would make an awesome stocking stuffer or gift if you get the large size!!

Another great stocking stuffer are Spongeables. These sponges massage, cleanse and moisturize all in one. No need to add shower gel or soap. All you do is get them wet and use. I LOVE having these in my shower. They smell great and are inexpensive! Find them at Wal-Mart, CVS, Rite-Aid, and CVS. Check out the website here: http://www.spongeables.com/web/home.php

Has anyone seen the preview for Black Swan? I want to see that movie asap! Let me know, did you see it tonight??
