Do-It-Yourself Gift: Homemade Coffee Sugar Body Scrub

Hey Guys!

I have been really into making do-it-yourself beauty products lately. I have a fun one to suggest to you all today- it’s a coffee sugar body scrub!! This is great for exfoliating and helping to reduce cellulite from the caffeine in that’s in coffee :) Who doesn’t enjoy that? Plus- if you’re a coffee lover, you’re going to love using this in the shower every morning. The scent will be very rich and strong.

If you want to make someone a Christmas gift this year, this coffee sugar body scrub could be a great personalized gift! You can customize the jar , with ribbon, and a label to make it your own!

Here’s what you will need:

  • An empty jar
  • Coffee- any flavor you want
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Olive Oil
  • Pinch of cinnamon

What I did was used two scoops of coffee, approximately 1/3 cup, also used 1/3 cup sugar, I used white, but you can use brown for a softer texture. Mix in some vanilla extract, and a pinch of cinnamon. Add olive oil until it’s the consistency you want. You don’t want it runny, but you want enough oil to help the sugar and coffee grounds stick together. Finally, put in a jar, and customize how you want!

If you want to try some other scrubs check out some of my other posts for aHomemade Oatmeal Brown Sugar body scrub and a face and body brown sugar scrub.

Homemade Oatmeal Brown Sugar Body Scrub!

Hey Guys!

I made the BEST homemade body scrub the other day and had to share it with you! I have been really into making my own products these days. One of the biggest reasons I love doing that is that you know exactly what ingredients are going into your product! Plus, it’s super fun. :)

I shared with you all a brown sugar body scrub, but this is an OATMEAL brown sugar scrub. The reason I wanted oatmeal in this scrub is that oatmeal is a soothing and calming agent for the skin!

The ingredients that I put in this are:

Brown Sugar

Oatmeal

Olive Oil

Vanilla Extract (for a delicious smell)

You should use a large bowl, put both however much brown sugar and oatmeal you want in the scrub, then add a little olive oil and keep adding olive oil until you get the consistency you want. At the very end, add a little vanilla extract.

The best part about this body scrub is that it smells and reminds of of cookie dough batter for some reason. It’s an amazing scrub to use in the shower! Hope you will try it out.

LOVE, Lauren

And, if you don’t hear from me, have a VERY happy, very thankful, Thanksgiving!!!

DIY: I Made My own Brown Sugar Body and Face Scrub

Hey Everyone!

Check out what I made the other day. I wanted to share the recipe with you all! It’s a brown sugar face and body scrub using ingredients from my kitchen. :)

What I Used:

  •       ½ cup of brown sugar
  •      2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  •      5 drops of agave nectar or honey
  •      A few drops of your favorite scented oil (optional)
How to Make It:
Mix all the ingredients together  in a medium sized bowl. Find a jar with a secure cap to fill the scrub mixture into. (I used a glass jar from Burts Bees that was empty).
FACTS:
  • You can use this on your face and body. It will help exfoliate and cleanse clogged pores. This scrub will smell and feel amazing, and pretty much just melt away as you use it.
  • Sugar has glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that is crucial for maintaining healthy skin and is usually a key ingredient in pricey products. The natural glycolic acid in sugar will help to condition and moisturize your skin, and protect it from toxins.
  • Using brown sugar is better than using white sugar because it is more gentle and better for sensitive skin.
  • It’s very inexpensive to make at home! Try it. :) And, if you have any at home recipes of your favorite scrubs or masks let me know!
Love,
Lauren

How do you Treat your Skin? Shave, Sugar, Slather with Perfectly Posh

A few days ago I said that you should take ONE day a week and try to make an effort to treat yourself to a face mask. That’s great for your face, but what about your body? How do you TREAT the rest of your skin?? I wanted to also challenge you to take one day a week to follow this three steps for smoother , healthier, softer skin!

Here’s how you can treat your skin at least ONE day a week:)

  1. Shave. This one we all do for obvious reason… we shave so we are not hairy and have smoother more touchable skin. But- shaving also helps exfoliate your skin, which is good for getting off dead skin cells and exposing younger , healthier skin.
  2. Sugar. Use a sugar body scrub to exfoliate all over your body. Do this after shaving to really help soften and further exfoliate. I have been loving Perfectly Posh‘“SUGAR FIX”. It is an all over sugar body scrub that contains honey and almond and leaves my skin feeling amazing!
  3. Slather. Here’s the fun part…apply a body butter or lotion all over your body, (preferably something that is skin nourishing and smells good). Then, put on big fuzzy robe and wait a while…when you take off your robe to get dressed, your skin will feel soft and incredible. Also from the Perfectly Posh line, I have been using “paper moon slather body butter”. It smells absolutely incredible, light and sweet and I love the consistency. It’s not sticky, just rich and hydrating.

Hope you all are up for the challenge of softer skin…I have been doing these three things as often as possible and it’s been making my dry skin feel a lot more hydrated and smooth.

The products I listed in this post were samples given to me to try by  Laura of Perfectly Posh. Definitely go check out the website  and facebook page. She was very kind and helpful in telling me about these products. I have been using them almost on a daily basis. I was really impressed by both this sugar scrub and body butter. I loved the quality and the price. The other great thing about all of these products is that they are:

• Paraben-free and paraffin-free
• SLS-free
• Gluten-free
• Soy-free
• Use essential oils and fine pthalate-free fragrances
• Natural: Full of butters, oils, and other nourishing ingredients
• Preserved with gentle, effective vitamin E

You can also request a free sample by “liking” Laura’s Perfectly Posh Facebook page.

Hope you’re all having a fabulous week. Talk to you soon.

Lauren

Top 3 Lip Product Discoveries of 2010

Hi!!!

What’s one of the first things you notice about people? Besides eyes,  hair color, and well…overall stature, LIPS! Lips make an impression right? I mean, if you see someone who looks very attractive from far away but notice they have dry cracked lips, it’s a turn off right?

I was thinking about some lip products that were brand new discoveries of mine over 2010. Here are some of my favorites:

SARA HAPP peppermint Lip Scrub & Lip Slip. I love these 2 products! A little pricey but definitely worth it. The lip scrub actually comes in a variety of flavors, almond creme, brown sugar, cinnamon sugar, cocoa, vanilla bean and peppermint. It is sugary and is the perfect amount of scrub for your lips! (They also had a red velvet flavor for holiday 2010..don’t know if it’s around anymore but I’d LOVE to get my hands on that one!!!!)

The Lip slip is a rich sheer balm with no color. It stays on your lips for hours and has a really sweet smell. It’s the perfect balm for all day wear if you have just used the lip scrub. :) I LOVE this.. **do not use if you’re allergic to beeswax. Reason I say this, I know someone with an allergy and this definitely contains beeswax.

WAY CUTE PACKAGING TOO!! Go to

LuMeSH lip glosses are another one of my favorite lip product discoveries of 2010!! These are the creamiest, LEAST sticky pigmented color lip glosses I have felt in a long time. I absolutely love the consistency of these! These glosses also contain vitamins and lip plumping agents! They do not tingle but your lips definitely will feel fuller and juicier after applying these glosses! :) I LOVE THEM!!!

My favorite ones are  called Min and Magaly. In this photo those are the first one on the left and the fourth one in from the left . :)

Third and final lip discovery are the Josie Maran Magic Marker Argan Oil Infused Lip Stain Duo. These are actually brand new… and came out live to the public on JANUARY 3rd 2011,  just 4 days ago! They were introduced on QVC , and you can still find them on the QVC website. http://bit.ly/e2uJMl

These are awesome! They remind me of markers or crayola crayons from when I was young..they give your lips the perfect pop of color, have a long wearing stain and a smooth moisturizing end that keeps your lips smooth and hydrated! I LOVE these. I wore mine on New Years Eve!

Do any of you have a favorite lip product from 2010??? What was it ..share it below!
