positivity and kindness

This weeks lesson in Esther was chapter 3:1-5  .  It was about the cruelty and meanness we can have towards one another.   I was not particularly struck by this lesson.. but it is worth talking about because it is true, we live in a world that is mean. and that gets us No where.

And if ANYONE can relate to this its us WOMEN.  WE WOMEN can be the cruelest they come.    ya’ll  know what im talking about ….some other girl is flaunting herself in front of YOUR MAN trying to be all sexy and trying to get HIS eyes on HER body.  The worst part is she doesn’t even WANT your man.. she just wants to know that he’s gonna glance at her instead of you.   She wants the power of knowing He’s gonna look at her.   Its sick……… and women especially do this kind of stuff to each other cause we know we can, we think we can get away with it.

** Insecurity is at the heart of at every Rivalry.   INSECURITY. ……… and its not attractive.   If we feel THREATENED ..we have a tendency to act and No its not usually through loving the other person.  Its through somthing harsh and unthoughtful.

I am not saying this and pointing the finger at Anyone..I am saying this cause its so true.. LOVE yourself, and LOVE others as yourself.  Identify the Threat before you speak or act .

Romans 12:17-21 17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a]says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;   if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[b] 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

So In one of my classes we were assigned to LAUGH more…,there is a special love i have for someone who can make me laugh..and seriously COLLETTE your sexy dance around customers when we’re working. Its too good.. it makes my life.  haha maybe not that good but..yelling out the STORE ..across the street ……….”WHERE’D “YOU GET YOUR COAT !? ”  I swear the whole block heard you and a car almost crashed into the poor woman.  was that really necessary….oh gosh its too good.

Another assignment in class is to read this site called the positivity blog.  and I happened to stumble upon Picasso’s Top 7 tips for creating an exciting life.    and im such an art loverrrrrrrr i had to read this. so here it goes……

1. You have to believe to be able to do.

“He can who thinks he can, and he can’t who thinks he can’t. This is an inexorable, indisputable law.”

2. Push your limits.

“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”

3. Don’t wait for inspiration or the right moment.

“Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working.”

4. Act.

“Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone.”

“Action is the foundational key to all success.”

5. Ask the right questions.

“Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not.”

6. See the hidden beauty by not judging.

“If only we could pull out our brain and use only our eyes.”

7. It’s not too late.

“Youth has no age.”

and I’d like to add one of my own for creating a more exciting life…….. LEARN! I have become so attracted to learning lately..maybe its since I took a break from school and then went back.  But really, books, writing, and MOVIES are so inspiring. I also want to start learning spanish.. I think I’ll try to take a class or somthing or even try to teach myself somehow.

The last movie I saw was “VICKI CHRISTINA BARCELONA” …made me want to get up and go to spain.  I think I need to do that! some of the shots in this film are so beautiful.  Breathtaking.

  1. This is such a great blog Lauren. From beginning to end, you made some great points. I saw “Vicki Christina Barcelona” in a Chelsee theater last November. Great movie. If you liked that movie, you must see “Before Sunset” by Richard Linklater. Same type of Movie.

When I read your comment about Picasso’s 7 tips for creating an exciting life, I automatically thought about “The ANGEL INSIDE” which is a book about Michaelangelo’s David which can help you discover your potential for a passionate life (as John Maxwell puts it) 🙂 Great book, great movie.

    Blessings to you DF

  3. I haven’t seen the movies … would like to …. but what I can relate to is your insight regarding the way women are with one another. It doesn’t have to be a man…. it can be just the way we relate to one another. .. on the job in the everyday. Yes! to your insight …. I so agree.

  4. it is very true..and its sad it is that way.
It was pretty funny, in my esther class we have women of all ages. There is a woman in her 80’s that spoke up during the lesson and said that she would rather work in an office with all men than one with all women.
She said women are just vicious to each other and when you are the only woman in a men’s workplace they treat you like a queen. It was pretty funny..
also, we have a woman from africa.. who said that women are they same way there.. they fight over men and cut each other down..
it was interesting to hear all these different perspectives. but it all comes from insecurity.
    love.

  5. Thank you for this lovely blog, Lauren.
The Picasso tips are truly motivational. “Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working”… So true! As is “Youth has no age”

I’ve been thinking I should see Vicki Christina Barcelona. Now I definitely will!
