Drink MORE WATER for Beauty and Health

Hey Guys!

Sorry , I have not posted anything for the last 2 weeks. I think that is the longest I’ve gone without writing anything. I’ve been very busy-but besides for being busy, I’ve had CRAZY allergies. Allergies so bad they interfere with my everyday life. The good news for me is I went to the doctor and she said she thinks I need to see an allergist, and a dermatologist since I have such sensitive skin, so that is scheduled for the upcoming weeks. Not a fun thing to have  for someone who tests new products all the time. :( Anyway, I’m back with a new post and something to share.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My news is about water and to encourage and tell you all , DRINK MORE WATER. It’s very basic but I want to share a personal story that may help encourage you to get more water everyday. Since your body is made up of approximately 60 % water, it is so important to drink it for your body to function correctly. It also helps with beauty in that it helps your hair, skin and nails grow , your skin to be clearer and more vibrant and helps shed excess fat build up.
Here’s what I recently went through and how water has helped SIGNIFICANTLY! I have always been a diet coke lover. I used to drink diet coke all the time and therefore wasn’t getting very much water per day. I would drink some water, and I’ve always liked tea so I’d have some of that too but… for the most part I was not getting very much just plain water everyday. Meanwhile- for the past year at least, I was getting HEADACHES all the time. Almost everyday. I started getting really worried and considering seeing the doctor for headaches.
Until, one day I was driving and I heard a nutritionist talking about how much water your body needs per day. She said, “take your body weight, cut it in half and that’s how many oz. of water your supposed to get per day.” So, I calculated in my head and figured out how many 20 oz water bottles I was supposed to drink per day.
Then, when I went in to get  massage later that day, my massage therapist told me the exact same words the nutritionist had said. “You’re supposed to half your body weight in oz of water a day, for it to function properly”.
After hearing this twice in one day, that day, I bought a 20 oz water bottle and started refilling it and drinking the amount of water that my body required. I also gave up buying diet coke, and have only had it on occasions now. Almost immediately, I STOPPED GETTING HEADACHES. And, since I’ve started this water kick…I have not had ONE headache.
It’s INCREDIBLE to me that I have not had any headaches after getting them for so long. My body seems way more balanced, feels better and I just feel healthier.
So, the lesson here is… DRINK A LOT MORE WATER. I know  you probably hear it all the time ,butI dare you to actually try this challenge and see if it changes any issues that you’re having.Because, it completely solved mine. And, now I’m convinced that your body really does need lots and lots of water for your health and beauty. :)
My Favorite Drugstore Mascara and Eyeliners
Hi Everyone!
I get asked a lot about what type of eyeliner and mascara I prefer. Honestly, I’ve tried high end and drugstore, and I really think drugstore eyeliners and mascaras have come a long way and you can almost NEVER tell the difference between high end and some drug store mascara and eyeliners.
Here are my favorites:
These happen to be my favorite drugstore mascara and liners, but I would actually recommend these over high end they’re so good!!
1. Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-2 lash boosting felt tip eyeliner + Serum. This product is pretty new, I saw that it’s a felt tip black eyeliner with lash boosting serum in it?! For me, I love this because the thick marker is easy to use and draws a liquid line quickly, plus it goes on super black. I haven’t noticed that much of a difference in my lashes , but just knowing that it has serum that is supposed to help the thickness of your lashes has made me want to re-purchase this product!!!
2. Milani Liquif’eye Eyeliner in Black.  This eyeliner is best for lining the inner rim of your eye. It goes on dark and black, and is super smooth and creamy. It’s my favorite for the “inner rim” of your eye. :) Plus, it’s under $10.
3. Cover Girl Lash Blast in Very Black. Honestly, I had heard about how GREAT this mascara was by tons of beauty gurus and blogs and I always put off trying it because I thought I had found the best. Well, this stuff is amazing! It gives good definition without clumps and lenthens and thickens. It’s my new favorite for sure!!!
Hope you enjoyed this, if you did don’t forget to subscribe to this blog and check out my Facebook Page!   See ya there. :)
Beauty for Breast Cancer Awareness
Hey Guys,
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I’m sure almost all of us know someone who has had breast cancer or currently has it. This type of cancer is very common in women and men, but more so in women. Actually, 1 in 8 women in the U.S are diagnosed with breast cancer in there lifetime. That’s a really scary statistic! Just like other cancers, diseases and illnesses , in order to find a treatment there needs to be awareness.
The beauty world always tries to get involved in bringing up the awareness of breast cancer by donating portions of their sales to breast cancer research.
A few  brands that I know for sure have joined in on this are Stila and Nails Inc. Two beauty brands like and use! Nails Inc has made a polish called “Pinkie Pink.” It is a really glittery pink. Check out my nails, I love this!! :)
Stila has a Positively Pink Set for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Blush and lipgloss for $18. Or, there is the Positive and Pretty Palette for $14.
Bra Strap Ponytail Holder?! By Capelli New York
Hey Guys,
I wanted to share a hair accessory I am loving right now! It has been a blessing with styling, because with these I can use them and they do not create a dent! That way, I can put my hair back at night before I go to bed, and in the morning I don’t have to worry about a crease in my hair if I want to style it down. These ponytail holders are silky and don’t pull or tug at your hair; they’re extremely gentle and look good on your wrist. :)
So, check out Bra Strap Ponytail holders by Capelli New York. I found these at Ulta. There are 10 in a pack and they were $10.
Another company that makes these is called Emi-Jay Hair Ties. I have not tried these , but they look identical and I’m sure they work just as good. The Emi-Jay ones come in all different colors , patterns, and styles. The Emi-Jay Hair Ties started by from two teenage girls. A portion of all of their profits goes to Locks of Love. Winter 2012 Collection
They are definitely my new favorite hair accessory! Have you tried these yet?? If not, I HIGHLY recommend you do. :)
Burgundy/Red Nail polish for Fall 2012!
Hey Guys!
I wanted to share my latest Fall nail polish love. I’m over bright colors and into dark rich colors. This burgundy/red color I found is my favorite right now for fall. The color I’m wearing is called, “Red Zin” from Sally Hansen’s Salon Manicure line.
Not only do I love this color, but the nail polish brand itself is one of my favorites. This polish stays on really well, and doesn’t chip off as easily as most other brands I’ve tried. It is a base coat, polish and top coat in one.
One tip I have to share is that  many times ULTA stores have clearances on some of their discontinued or out of season colors. Normally, this brand Salon Manicure by Sally Hansen costs about $6.99- $7.50.But, I found this color on clearance for $1.99!
What are some of your favorite nail polish trends and colors for Fall??
DIY: I Made My own Brown Sugar Body and Face Scrub
Hey Everyone!
Check out what I made the other day. I wanted to share the recipe with you all! It’s a brown sugar face and body scrub using ingredients from my kitchen. :)
What I Used:
  •       ½ cup of brown sugar
  •      2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  •      5 drops of agave nectar or honey
  •      A few drops of your favorite scented oil (optional)
How to Make It:
Mix all the ingredients together  in a medium sized bowl. Find a jar with a secure cap to fill the scrub mixture into. (I used a glass jar from Burts Bees that was empty).
FACTS:
  • You can use this on your face and body. It will help exfoliate and cleanse clogged pores. This scrub will smell and feel amazing, and pretty much just melt away as you use it.
  • Sugar has glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that is crucial for maintaining healthy skin and is usually a key ingredient in pricey products. The natural glycolic acid in sugar will help to condition and moisturize your skin, and protect it from toxins.
  • Using brown sugar is better than using white sugar because it is more gentle and better for sensitive skin.
  • It’s very inexpensive to make at home! Try it. :) And, if you have any at home recipes of your favorite scrubs or masks let me know!
Love,
Lauren
Revive Your Hair! Products That Give You a Boost
Hey Guys,
Do you ever struggle with styling your hair day to day? Do you feel like you have to wash it every single day for it to look decent?
Well, I used to be one of those people who felt like I had to wash my hair everyday because I thought otherwise it looked greasy. ew
I actually found out that if you wash your hair everyday your scalp tends to produce more oil making it more oily. Instead, if you go 2 or 3 days without washing it, your scalp and hair get used to that and produce less oil making it more manageable.
Here are some products that I use and have found really help out a lot if you want to skip a day or two of washing your hair.
1.Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush. I have raved about this product 3 times now. I can’t say enough good things because it’s the one dry shampoo I have tried that really lifts your roots, makes them less oily and helps blend incoming roots with blond hair. :) Triple bonus. It’s the best. Oh, and it smells good too.
2. MATRIX Design Pulse Mega DustThis stuff is a magic root booster, it gives hair so much lift with the tiniest amount of “dust” as they call it. Sprinkle a little bit through your palm and run through the roots at the top of your head for lift and volume when your hair starts to droop. Please note though, a little bit goes a long way, this stuff turns into sort of a sticky/tacky texture and if you use too much your hair will feel sticky. I’d say use less than you think is necessary-one sprinkle into palm.
3.BIOLAGE colorcarethérapie Shine Shake SprayThis helps give shine to dry looking hair. It helps condition and is great on color treated hair at protecting it and making it look more vibrant. So I use the other two products in the roots; this is strictly for the length of my hair. to make it look less dry. This is very lightweight-is not sticky at all and smells really good!!
4. The Sultra Bombshell Curling Rod.  This is the best for giving natural wave or curl to your hair. It’s easy to use, and gives my hair more volume on the days I don’t feel like washing it. I have been using this a lot lately to create a natural wave. I love the look it gives. I have mine in a 1 inch barrel.
